Policy Consultation: Relationships & Health Education
Schools in England are required by law to provide relationships education in primary schools.
In our school, we are proposing to include the wider aspects of sex education (at a level appropriate to pupils' age and stage of development) as recommended by the DfE, PSHE Association and approved by our governing body (allowing parents the right to withdraw).
We believe that relationships education is important for our pupils and our school as it helps children and young people to be safe, healthy and happy as they grow up and in their future lives.
Initially, parents are invited to take part in the consultation process
for agreeing our new policy.
The draft policy and other associated documents are listed below.
Please share any views you have with us at school
by Tuesday 7 June -
either by contacting us on firstname.lastname@example.org
by calling us on 01772 792573
or through your child's Showbie account.
UPDATE: THE CONSULTATION PERIOD IS NOW CLOSED. ALL RESPONSES HAVE BEEN TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION AND ARE REFLECTED WITHIN THE CURRENT DRAFT POLICY.
Once agreed, the policy will be shared here on the website and over the next few months, sample content will also be posted so that parents can see the type of content and activities included.
School will also hold a parents' meeting in the Autumn term 2021 to share more detail about the curriculum offer so that parents can make informed choices about their child's level of participation in the wider aspects proposed.
