In our league matches we wanted to make sure everyone in our class got a change. In both sets of games we took half the team who were experienced playing football and half of the team who had never played before. We were so happy that we won every game. We played Ashton, Eldon, Roebuck, Lea CP and St Michaels.

We gave every team three cheers at the end of the game because we weren’t allowed to shake hands. All of our team were really proud of winning.

In September we entered the Kids Cup. We were excited and confident in our team. We played at PlayFootball arena. First we had to progress through the group stage.

    Here are our results:

    Grange 2 - 0 Alston Lane

    Grange 1 - 2 St Maria Goretti

    Grange 3 - 1 Fulwood and Cadley

    Grange 8 - 0 Queen’s Drive

We had made it through the group in 1st place. In the semi-final we played against Blessed Sacrament. We won 2-0. In the final we had to play two teams; Sherwood and St Maria Goretti’s (again). We beat Sherwood 2-1 and then got our revenge beating St Maria Goretti’s 3-2. At the end of the day we collected our trophy.

We have now qualified to represent the whole of Preston in the next round. We will be playing other regions such as Birmingham, Sheffield and Bolton. The next round takes place at Sheffield United’s training ground. We are very excited!

  • Reading Reward Scheme starts today!

    Mon 15 Nov 2021 C Taylor

    Reading Rewards at Grange

This half term we are very excited to announce our new reading reward scheme in school. Reading is a crucial part of your child’s learning and there are lots of opportunities for your child to read in school. However, we need children to be reading at home every day as this will help your child progress in all areas of their learning.

Your child will be bringing home a bookmark; every time your child reads at home and it is recorded in their yellow reading diary or on Showbie they will get a sticker from an adult in their class. Your child’s stickers will earn them a prize and a certificate. There will be a Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum award for your child to earn depending on how many times they read at home.

We look forward to working with you with this and hope your child is eager to earn their awards but more importantly we hope your child falls in love with reading.

  • Advice from Lancashire Public Health 19 October 2021

    Tue 19 Oct 2021 C Taylor

I have sent the following letter to all parent emails today.  Please contact us at school if you need any further advice or guidance.

    Dear Parent or Guardian

Update on current covid situation in school

This week we are seeing an increased number of positive cases of Covid-19 in some classes in school.

In light of this, I have sought advice from Lancashire Public Health, who have asked us to share the following with you:

    1. Tell us as soon as possible if your child has had a positive Covid-19 test
    2. Making sure if your child has symptoms of Covid-19 they isolate and book a test immediately, then follow the advice you're given when you get the result
    3. If your child has other symptoms or is not feeling well, then stay away from school as you normally would if your child was unwell, and please also seek a PCR test.

When booking a test online you will need to click the option that says: "My local council or health protection team has asked me (or someone I live with) to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms." If the result is positive your child will need to isolate. Follow the advice you're given when you get the result.

We have been asked to urge parents to get a test for themselves and their children if in any doubt.

Your child can still come to school, whilst you are awaiting the result of a test if they have no symptoms.

We can do the following to help children who are self-isolating or covid positive:

    1. provide remote learning on Showbie (if pupils are feeling well enough to access)

    1. provide a meal voucher for those entitled to benefit-related free school meals.  (We usually provide this on your return but please contact us if you need it urgently.)

As we are seeing increasing numbers of positive cases, we are putting the following additional measures in place:

    • Asking all staff and visitors to wear face masks
    • Advising staff to increase the frequency of lateral flow testing
    • Advising close contacts to take on online PCR test

We will of course continue with our enhanced cleaning, increased ventilation, and regular hand cleaning.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding and if you have any questions about these measures, please contact the school office.

    Yours faithfully

    Miss C Taylor

    Headteacher

  • SCHOOL OPENING 4 JANUARY COVID UPDATE

    Sun 03 Jan 2021 C Taylor

    SCHOOL OPENING MONDAY 4 JANUARY

Barring any more last minute directions from the Department of Education, our school will be OPEN on Monday 4th January as planned.  This is because our risk assessment says it is safe to do so.

However, as you know there is a new faster spreading variant of the virus and we are now in Tier 4 with greater restrictions.

I am therefore asking parents to do the following to try to keep bubbles safe in school:

    • Wear a face covering if possible– mask or visor– on school premises during drop off and collection
    • Stay 2m away from other family groups – do NOT gather to chat outside the school gates.  Also, do not gather early – please stick to your allocated drop off and pick up times
    • be vigilant of possible symptoms of Covid 19 within your family bubble – if you might have been in close contact with someone who has the virus over the holidays, then STAY AT HOME ON MONDAY AND CALL US FOR ADVICE.  Do not risk infecting your child’s class bubble without checking with us first.
    • Also, please contact school to double-check periods of self-isolation if any of your bubble tested positive over the Christmas holidays

Although we intend to stay open as long as it is safe to do so, please continue to check your email and/or Showbie accounts along with our Facebook page and school website.  We will be checking eligibility of keyworkers this week in case primary schools are directed to close by the government in the near future.  We continue to work with the support of Lancashire Local Authority, who are monitoring the ‘r’ rate in our localities and liaising with schools and with the government on behalf of schools.

At this point I want to thank all our school staff for their continued commitment to supporting our pupils and families by enabling our school to stay open.
